Calling scale sum: 3-7
Living calling scale sum: 6
You have a mild or vague sense of what your calling is. Around 43% of working adults feel this way and around 57% of college students feel this way. Unfortunately, you are not currently living it out. There are many reasons why people are not able to live out their callings, and these reasons are often unique for every individual. Ponder for a moment what those reasons are for you. Maybe your calling is to a job for which you do not yet have the necessary training to pursue. Maybe your calling is to a job that doesn’t pay enough for you and/or your family to live a comfortable life. Or maybe, based on how you responded to these two questions, your ability to live out your calling is challenged because you are not completely sure what it is. Arguably the most important factor in living out a calling is starting with a clear sense of what your calling is. To help you get there, we describe a number of strategies in MYJAC that you can pursue. For example, take an active approach, and start by start by assessing your skills, interests, personality, and values, and using this understanding of yourself to explore and identify occupations that would provide an excellent fit for your personal attributes. This process can be aided by the help of trusted friends or family, or a trained career counselor.
